Don’t Waste Your Weekend Winter Edition Queenstown

Don’t waste your weekend is back and this time, we’re embracing the colder days. Check out the first instalment of our Winter Edition where we hit Queenstown.

With regular flights, awesome skiing and traveller hotties to boot, Queenstown is the ultimate winter destination. Rug up and make your way south, this weekend, don’t waste it: go Queenstown. As one of the tourism centres of our wee country, Queenstown has a lot to offer. I couldn’t possibly cover all the cool corners of this groovy town, so here’s the highlight reel.

First up: FERG BURGER. Need I say more, these mammoth offerings have well and truly earnt their stripes as a culinary ‘must do’. At literal ‘jaw-breaking’ strength, these burgers are perfect for the chilly local climate and are well worth the wait (being popular isn’t easy).  Feeling something a little sweeter? Just next door, Ferg bakery is bursting with divine, European baked goods.

Arrow town, Queenstown’s really good looking younger sister, is an awesome day trip. With the New England feel, Arrow town is great for the gram. Head over there to check out the ‘stuff-of-childish-daydreams’ sweet shop or the awesome gold panning sites (excuse me: geeking out over here).

Ski bunnies, this is for you. Between the Remarkables, Coronet Peak, Snow Park, Cardrona Valley and Treble Cone, you’ll definitely get your yearly dose of choice runs. With plenty of hire shops and ski maintenance experts around, make sure you make it up the mountain this season (it’s been too long, I bet).

While your down there, you are almost obligated to jump on the Skyline Gondola and have a thrash around on the Luge. While you’re up there, for the daredevils amongst us, try the bungee to really get the blood rushing to your head.

The nightlife in Queenstown will never disappoint. Put your glad rags on, tits at attention (kidding, don’t) and head into town. Crawling with foreign hotties, Queenstown has more nightclub per capita than most other kiwi centres (win). For a dabble on the mechanical bull, call into Cowboys, or lap up the vodka or vodka goodness at the Ice Bar.

Make sure you pay a visit to Angel Divine, who stock to some of our favourite Kiwi designers, including Age, Beau Coops, Company of Strangers, Juliette Hogan, Gram, Maaike, Lonely Hearts, Twenty Seven Names and Zambesi.

Now, say hello to my out of office. Queenstown, I’m coming! Peace out.
