10 Things to Know About Cult British Beauty — Ciaté
Makeup enthusiasts, get ready because beauty megastore Mecca Maxima is finally coming to our shores! The store that is set to open in Christchurch is probably the next most exciting thing after the opening of retail giants in Sylvia Park. Although it won’t be located in the big smoke (good ol’ Auckland), we’re still looking forward to all the beauty goods that will be available online when launched.
Mecca Maxima, as the name suggests, means a wider selection of products to choose from. A few of our favourites available at Mecca include the oh-so-popular Urban Decay, Nars, HOURGLASS, Stila — and the newest addition to our ‘favourite’ list, Ciaté!
Curious to know more about the brand, we interviewed Debra Svarc, Director of Brand Development at Ciaté. Here’s what to know about your new go-to beauty line:
1) Who is the Ciaté girl?
Ciaté girls are pretty, fun and fearless. Unafraid to dream big and sparkle bright, they seek out new colours and techniques while exploring fresh ways to constantly update their look. Specialising in fast, fabulous beauty fixes, they are hotties on a mission, beauties with ambition – unafraid to express their own individuality and be their own kind of beautiful.
2) What are the most popular Ciaté products across the board?
Liquid Velvet – our matte liquid lipstick with hyaluronic acid for extra hydration and a plumping effect. In a range of 13 shades, there’s a shade for everyone but Pin Up is universally flattering. Our Wonderwand mascara is also a huge success, promising high volume and luscious length with no fallout or crumbling!
3) What are the must-have Ciaté products for 20-somethings for the upcoming NZ Summer and why?
Wonderwand for sure, no one wants to be worrying about panda eyes in the heat! Makeup Melter is also a great product for summer – it is the easiest way to remove your makeup and the Murumuru butter and Vitamin E keep your skin feeling hydrating and silky smooth!
4) What do you think the top beauty trends for the NZ summer will be?
Summer is all about comfort and keeping it simple. Pretty Stix lipsticks are a great way of wearing a pop of colour, and the murumuru butter super soft formula will keep your lips from drying out. BFF and Vintage blush are stunning nude shades, while Me Me Me is a beautiful summer red shade!
5) What’s next for Ciaté? Any there any exciting collaborations on the horizon?
2017 is going to be big for Ciaté! Our 2017 new product collections are some of or best yet and we can’t wait to share it with you! Any Trendmood fans will also have seen our collaboration with the whole beauty community is in full swing and we are currently in the voting process on which eye shadow shades will feature in the palette – make sure you have your say!
6) What do you love about collaborating with celebrities and influencers?
The creative process is so exciting when you can really vibe off another creative person. Both parties bring their experience and ideas to the table, and work together to bring something really amazing to life. Response on the Chloe Morello Beauty Haul has been so overwhelming – we are just so thrilled that we managed to create something that has been received so well
7) Why do YouTube Beauty Gurus love Ciaté? What products do they typically rave about and why do you think these are the favourites?
Ciaté is cult British beauty. With each product we create we strive to create a premium formula, whether that be hydrating on the lips, or a mascara with staying power and no fall out. We don’t compromise, and you shouldn’t have to either! Liquid Velvet is also a real hero as the shade selection is so varied – from Envy and Voodoo to Wonderland and Pin Up! Precious Metal loose pigment is also a cult favourite as it is so easy to use (we include the primer and brush in the set!
8) What are your personal beauty tips/hacks?
Your eyeshadow will last so much longer if you use a primer on your lids. Just smooth a tiny dab of Partner In Prime all over the lid and corner of your eye, and you’ll see a huge difference in the finish. No creasing and flawless blendability! Try it with your favourite Pretty Fun Fearless palette!
9) Why is social media and YouTube important to the Ciaté brand?
We are beauty obsessives!! We spend all day talking about beauty, creating makeup stories and testing products – when we aren’t doing that, we are trawling Instagram, YouTube and Snapchat looking for inspiration! It’s also a great way for us to keep up with our fans. We are based in London but retail all over the world, and we love to keep in touch with our fans in all corners of the world.
10) Ciaté will be available in New Zealand’s first Mecca Maxima Chirstchurch store in 17th November and Mecca online. Take note, ladies!
